Mariee Ami Weddings: Mollie Beth and Matt

Mollie Beth and Matt were married in Tuscaloosa, Alabama this past summer. We knew we would love Mollie Beth from the moment we met her. She wanted something simple and wanted us to handle the rest.

Mollie Beth chose Smith Hall as the ceremony location. This venue is a natural history museum at the University of Alabama. At first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about a life size dinosaur hanging over our guests, but this quickly became one of my favorite details.

The reception venue was The University Club just down the street from Smith Hall. The antebellum home is full of history and tradition. The big staircase and the numerous mantels made for great floral focus points. I will never forget watching Mollie Beth walk down the stairs for the first time with the biggest smile on her face. It is these moments that make what we do so special.

After the ceremony as we were headed to the the reception we started noticing the traffic lights going out one at a time. As luck would have it, tTuscaloosa lost power as guests were driving to the reception. Darkness was upon us and there wasn’t a light to be seen for at least 10 city blocks. These are the types of problems that no one can predict. Thankfully I had worked with the Major on a previous wedding that year and still had connections. While guests had to enjoy the reception in the candle light for little bit, the City responded to my request and we were the first block to get power.

The connection we made with Mollie Beth and her mom the first time we met stayed strong during the entire planning process and is still strong today. The confidence they had in hiring us and their appreciative heart made such an impression on our entire team. We are thankful for this friendship and so loved making it all happen for them.
