Travel: Como Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos

Last week, Neillie, along with five other luxury wedding planners, were guests of Como Parrot Cay in Turks and Caicos. She arrived home raving about the resort and said, “It has to be the closest place to heaven here on earth.” What a review! Besides being an ideal honeymoon or vacation spot, Neillie believes the islands possibilities for a wedding are endless. Here are some highlights of this amazing property and why Como Parrot Cay should be at the top of your list for a destination wedding.

From Neillie:

Como Parrot Cay is located on a private island just a 25 minute boat ride from Providenciales. The island resort consists of a mile-long sandy white beach and the clearest water you have ever seen in your life. While you will find the beautiful beaches and crystal water everywhere in Turks and Caicos, Parrot Cay offers a different experience to this gorgeous view. Parrot Cay’s beach view villas are luxury at it’s finest. Each villa has direct beach access, a private pool, and comfortable outdoor lounge furniture. With white-washed interior, you will immediately be in a state of peace and tranquility. If the amenities aren’t enough, how about the precious butler that comes with each villa?! The butler is there to prepare your room for you morning and night, bring you food and drink at your request, or take you anywhere on property via golf cart. You are only a text a way for literally anything you need!

While the resort is quiet, there is still so much to do! Bikes come with your villa if you feel the desire to explore. You can paddle board or kayak through Boney Creek waterway, or have the hotel arrange a snorkeling or sailing trip. The spa and yoga experiences are also top notch—I highly suggest the 60 minute massage! The options to fill your days are endless. However, don’t feel like you need to overbook yourself. Our group found ourselves just enjoying the beach for hours every day.

In addition to the fabulous accommodations, activities, and service; the food was incredible. Every single thing I ate was outstanding. Green juices, gluten-free menus, and fresh farm-to-table ingredients all had me in a health food frenzy. My butler even made sure everything I was served was free of my allergies. Don’t let this scare the non-dieter — I saw some of the most amazing hamburgers, grilled sandwiches, and lobster rolls coming out of the kitchen as well.

As for weddings on the island, Parrot Cay is so different than any other resort property I have visited. They do not have the large ballroom with bad carpet, or the ugly banquet chairs that no one wants to use. The venue spaces are private homes or villas with teak decking, infinity pools, and large private beaches all with a view of the ocean. One of my favorite houses came with a gazebo that would be perfect for a seated dinner after cocktails around the pool.

We have so many clients who want a beach wedding, only to rent a grassy lawn without a beach view. If the photographer doesn’t get a photo of the couple on the beach, you would never know it was a beach wedding! These are the same clients who want all of their guests at the beach together enjoying the weekend experience. Unfortunately, guests then find their own rental properties around the beach and no one is together except for the arranged events. At Como Parrot Cay, all of your guests will be together on the island, and your events can actually be on the beach if that is what you want. Even when the guests are not at an arranged party, they are still experiencing this amazing island together. The memories made all weekend long is what makes choosing a destination wedding so special.
