A Weekend Away....

We are only a few weeks away from a wedding at The Grand Hotel in Fairhope, Alabama and we are super excited. As I finalize our travel plans, I can’t help but think of all the fun places we have had the opportunity to explore. My little boy Bruce, also know as the #travelingweddingbaby, travels with the Mariee Ami team and is honestly the best judge of any property. I thought it would be fun to give you a quick review on a few of our favorite spots to either host a wedding or plan your next weekend getaway.

Sea Island, Georgia has been on my lists of favorites for a few years. It screams sophistication while being all about family. This five star resort has the best restaurants, a beautiful spa, and access to the beach. Bruce had so much fun at kids camp and loved swimming in the fabulous pools. Once you are on property you never have to leave. I usually fly into Jacksonville and then drive over to Sea Island which makes it an easy weekend getaway.

After planning a wedding here this year , The Montage at Palmetto Bluff is a new addition to my list. I have had an adults trip in addition to a wedding weekend at this restful resort. Bruce was a huge fan of the tree houses spread out all over the property as well as the various piers. The crocodile sightings were exciting for us all! There are cottages you can rent as a family or you can choose to stay at the inn. The breakfast at the inn has lots of healthy options which was one of my favorite touches! I flew into Savannah and it was a quick drive over to the property.

Highlands/Cashiers, North Carolina is a popular place for Birmingham families to have vacation homes. Until I started planning weddings I had not spent much time in the mountains. After visiting Old Edwards Inn and Lonesome Valley, I see why families love spending time there! Great food, wine, cool temperatures and scenic views everywhere you turn are only a few of the reasons I have fallen in love with this area. Bruce loves going to see the waterfalls and looking for bears. Highlands is only a couple of hours from Atlanta making it an easy weekend getaway as well.

Tranquility and sophistication are the adjectives I would use to describe all three of these retreats. It is hard for me to relax and unwind but a weekend away at any of these locations leaves me feeling relaxed and energized.
