Mariee Ami: Lacey & Farra
Tell us a little about your story as a couple.
So....Farra and I were set up on a blind date by some mutual friends (Allison and Stephen Stallcup)...I was a little high maintenance and told her to tell him to wait a few months before he asked me out because it was the holidays and I was busy and at peace with where I was in life...well thank God he did, and he took me to Bamboo on 2nd on 1/2/16 (and thank God I like sushi right?) the minute he hugged me at the door I felt a sense of comfort like I had never felt before. I knew on that first date he was different than any other guy I had dated (mainly because he carries the presence of the Holy Spirit so well) :) first date went soooo well that he came to our family lunch the next day at my parents house...pretty brave huh? I fell in love with him after a few months...it took him a little bit more time to realize how much he loved me haha, but once he knew he was going to marry me he was all in...he proposed on my dad's 60th birthday by sending me on a scavenger hunt around the city (to get my nails done - I had just gotten them done 2 days before so I skipped this one ha! first date spot - Bamboo, first kiss - Grand Bohemian bar, first time he told me he loved me - his house, and first time he told me he couldn't wait to marry me - my house) where he was waiting for me....then we went to my dad's 60th birthday dinner at Bottega and his parents had come in town for it and we had the best time celebrating...my mom called Neillie the next morning and the first thing she asked was what band? So basically Jessie's Girls determined our date...which we were totally fine with!
What was your vision for your wedding? Favorite detail?
My vision for the wedding was for our guests to walk in the East Room and feel at home...to be able to prop their feet up and get comfortable while having the time of their lives. That's where all the booths and lounge area ideas came into play....my favorite detail would probably be the flowers along the back of the booths and cascading down the sides. Carol Sullivan and Elizabeth Poynor did the most amazing job making all my flower dreams come true.
What was your favorite part of the planning?
My favorite part of the planning was truly meeting with Julia and Neillie. I felt at peace every time we would get together because I knew they were going to take care of every little detail.
What was your most memorable part of the day? The most surprising part?
The most surprising part was that every single thing went exactly as planned....and if it didn't then y'all did a phenomenal job keeping it from me! We had the most fun we've ever had before so it's hard to pick out the most memorable. Dancing with Farra to Don't Stop Believing was definitely a highlight for me!
If you could give another bride in the planning process any piece of advice, what would it be?
I would suggest to remain calm...everything's going to be okay and workout perfectly. I guess that's easy for me to say when I had such fabulous planners and parents who made things so easy, but when you put it into perspective and think of the amazing life you're going to live with your significant other after the party's over that's what really matters.
