Mariée Ami Weddings: Jenna & John
We loved working with this sweet Birmingham bride. Jenna and John had a classic September wedding with a navy, white, and gold palette and she looked stunning in a gown from The White Room. Cheers to this sweet couple! A few words from the bride… Please tell us a little about your story / how you meet / etc. John and I were blindly set up by my sister, brother-in-law, and my brother-in-law's best friend, also John's coworker. After receiving my phone number, he called me one day, out of the blue before Christmas 2014. I was so impressed at the fact that John decided to call me instead of text me, which is what most people our age do, and we agreed to meet for lunch on New Years Eve 2014. I was in the middle of moving, so not thinking this date would really go anywhere, I wore yoga pants and an Auburn sweatshirt. Ha! He was in casual business attire and to say I was embarrassed was a total understatement. We had the best conversation about our families, found out we had several mutual friends. After a few more lunch dates, and a really amazing night out at a charity function, the rest was history!!
What was your vision for your wedding? Favorite detail? I wanted a classic, elegant, fun (emphasis on this keyword) and simple affair. John and I are both relatively low-key people and we wanted the day to really represent us as a couple. We wanted to keep things in perspective and really focus on the most important thing: that we were commiting to spend the rest of our lives together. One of our favorite details was the candles, water, and clean florals combination. Our hope was to have our wedding appear intimate and romantic without going over the top. The cake was also my absolute favorite. It was the only piece of the entire event I was specific about, and it was executed PERFECTLY by Magic Muffin and Marigold Designs. I still stare at pictures of it from time to time!
What was your favorite part of the planning? My favorite part was having Neillie and Louise!! Haha! I really enjoyed the fact that I gave them a budget, my colors, what I envisioned, and they absolutely blew us away. As a sales professional, I was starting my first full year with a new company, so I felt a lot of pressure to perform. The idea of planning a wedding at the same time made me very anxious. Mariee' Ami made everything so incredibly easy and stress free, We felt like it was 100% our vision, yet they delivered an experience we could have only dreamed of. We also really enjoyed picking out the menu and the band. We wanted our guests to walk away feeling like they had been to the best party ever, and we hope they did!!
What was your most memorable part of the day? Besides marrying my wonderful husband, feeling the love and support of our family, friends, and colleagues. John and I credit our solid foundation as a couple to all of the people who were there to share in our joy. We were so honored and humbled by the entire experience.
