Mariée Ami Weddings: Ann Elizabeth & Austin

We couldn't have asked for a better day for an outdoor wedding! Set at a family home, we loved planning this classic southern style wedding. A few words from the bride... Please tell us a little about your story / how you meet / etc. Austin and I both went to college at Samford University. While we had mutual friends and were both pre-med, we were not close during college. We laugh thinking about the few classes that we had together! Neither of us would have believed that our spouse was in that room! Near the end of college, we both found out that we had been accepted to UAB for medical school. We started talking a little more and kept up over the summer until time to start at UAB in July. We quickly became study partners and were always hanging out! Before long, we were very best friends. Near the end of our first year of medical school, he asked me to go from "best friend" to “girlfriend,” and the rest is history! I cannot imagine surviving medical school or life without him by my side.

What was your vision for your wedding? Favorite detail? I wanted the day exude southern elegance. The ceremony and reception took place at my grandmother’s planation-style home, and with flawless fall weather, magnolia leaves everywhere, and a delicious southern menu (complete with pimento cheese deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes!), I think it truly was a fabulous southern affair.

My favorite detail was undoubtedly taking communion and praying during the ceremony on the gorgeous bench that Austin built himself. He built it and proposed to me on it last year, and it was his intent that it would be a prayer bench that we could use throughout our lives. It was so meaningful to have our first prayer as husband and wife on that bench!

What was your favorite part of the planning? Mariee Ami made every stage of planning so much fun! I was so busy with school that it is not an exaggeration to say that there is NO way I could have done it without them! My favorite part was pulling into my grandmother’s driveway a few days before the wedding and seeing the stunning tent going up. It was the moment that I knew it was really happening! Every day got more exciting as they added chandeliers, tables with linens, and finally the flowers— my favorite part! My mom and I, along with Neillie, Emma, and Caroline, had talked through every detail, but it came out better than I could have imagined.

What was your most memorable part of the day? The first look! My heart was racing! When I finally saw Austin and his sweet reaction, I felt so at ease. We had debated whether or not to do a first look, and I am so thankful that we did. It was a special moment between the two of us that I will cherish forever. anne-elizabeth-blog2 anne-elizabeth-blog3 anne-elizabeth-blog4 View More: View More: anne-elizabeth-blog7 anne-elizabeth-blog8 View More: anne-elizabeth-blog10 anne-elizabeth-blog11 anne-elizabeth-blog12 View More: anne-elizabeth-blog14 anne-elizabeth-blog15 anne-elizabeth-blog16 anne-elizabeth-blog17 anne-elizabeth-blog18 anne-elizabeth-blog19 anne-elizabeth-blog20 anne-elizabeth-blog21 anne-elizabeth-blog22 anne-elizabeth-blog23 anne-elizabeth-blog24 View More: anne-elizabeth-blog26 View More: anne-elizabeth-blog28 View More: anne-elizabeth-blog30 anne-elizabeth-blog31 anne-elizabeth-blog32 anne-elizabeth-blog33Photography: Allison Lewis Photography | Flowers: Dykes Culp, an exclusive Mariée Ami Vendor | Paper Design: Mariée Ami Wedding Planning Studio | Rentals: Event Rentals Unlimited | Catering: Savoie Catering | Cake: Sherry Cunningham | Hair & Make-Up: Kerri Bunn | Bridesmaids Dresses: Bella Bridesmaids
