Fall Florals by Holly Carlisle

We are so excited to have Holly Carlisle of Rosegolden Flowers be our guest blogger today! Holly has put together a sampling of some of her favorite autumn-inspired arrangements for your viewing pleasure, so sit back and take a minute to enjoy! "When I think of fall flowers, the first thing that comes to mind is the dahlia. I think that most florists would include dahlias as a favorite, especially the large dinner plate varieties. They make such a statement in any arrangement. Dahlias also come in an astounding array of colors from the palest blush to the most intense purple. The only difficulty with dahlias is that they are very delicate and do not like to be shipped. About a year and a half ago, I spied a dahlia garden at a church in Avondale. I literally turned my car around and wandered through the church until I found someone with information about the flowers. They are grown by Don Ehrett, a wonderful man and a master dahlia grower. We became fast friends. Being able to order flowers locally is a treat as the flowers are at their freshest and Don's dahlias are hands down the most beautiful I have ever seen. He sells his dahlias at Whole foods.

Another stunning fall flower is the tree peony. It is the gorgeous bright burgundy flower with the dusty yellow center. Such a beauty. Like many beautiful things, she is rare and costs a fortune but I always fall for her anyway.
Fall is also a great time to use foraged foliage as the changing leaves are such lovely colors and look delightful in arrangements. Some of what you see in these photos I clipped from my neighborhood: sweet gum and dogwood branches, loropetalum, nandina, wild grasses and privet berries. It is a great time of year to be able to throw together a table arrangement for your home just by clipping things from your yard and quite frankly, the side of the road - that's where you find the best grasses!"
